Echo Ridge Trails Guide
The Echo Ridge trail system can be divided into west side and east side. All trails are very clearly labeled with signs. When you stay with us or rent one of our Specialized Mountain E-Bikes we provide paper maps to help navigate.
West Trail System
The best way to access them from Echo Valley Resort + Cabins is up Bergman Gulch from the end of Cooper Gulch Road. It is about a 20-minute ride with some incline, 1.6 miles to the top of Bergman Gulch. Once you come to the top of Bergman Gulch Trail you will be at North Junction. If you go to the west side of the trail system, it can be anywhere from 1.5-2-hour ride. For this ride you would circumnavigate the Outback Trail Loop which is about a 4 miles loop. Stay to the right so that you are traversing the loop counterclockwise. About 1/3 to ½ way around there is a short spur trail called Mallory’s Trail (1.5 mile) that has a significant incline with a loop at the top that has phenomenal views. This Loop brings you back to where you started on Outback Trail.
Continue around Outback until you return to the top of Bergman Gulch where you started. Alternatively, you may take the turn off for Waterbar Heaven which is a flowy downhill trail with views 3.4 miles back down to the resort which comes out onto Bergman Gulch near the start.
East Trail System
To access the east side of the trail system, take Bergman Gulch Trail to the top and arrive at North Junction. There are several trails and paths to get to Grand Junction from the North Junction. One that we recommend is to start with Dust to Glory and it will end at Far East Trail. Go right. Far East will bring you to (High Five Junction) and then take Morning Glory to Grand Junction. Here at Grand Junction, you will be near the Upper Echo Ridge parking lot that is also utilized in the winter for the Nordic skiing trail system. There will be more hikers that access the trails there from the parking lot. This trail system from North Junction to Grand Junction provides stunning views of the Eastern Washington plateau across the Columbia River and the Cascade Mountain range to the south.
An excellent cross-country bike trail that is accessed from Grand Junction is Bob’s Trail. This is a favorite among Echo Ridge bikers. It is 4.6 miles and has excellent territorial and Lake Chelan views near the end of the trail. It is a single track, fun and flowy trail. At the end of Bob’s Trail, you will come out at the mid-point of Divine Intervention. Vear to the left and do the lower half (west side) of Divine Intervention loop. At the end of that you will be at The Shoe Trail which is a big loop. Right or left will take you to the same end point. Less experienced stay right, more experienced riders can go left. Once half of The Shoe loop is completed you will come to Switchback Alley. Follow that down to the bottom of Cabin Island at the resort, across the road from the Echo Valley Ski Hill. This is about 2.5 hours on an E-bike and 14 miles. There are excellent views throughout this downhill ride so be sure to stop and take them in.
If you want an even longer ride (3+ hours), after you complete Outback don’t descend Waterbar Heaven, instead follow the east trail system recommendations.
Nordic Ski Rentals, Treats & Resources
We rent Nordic ski gear as well as snowshoes at our resort office. In the winter time we also have hot chocolate, s’more kits and wine, beer & cider for sale in the office. As always, we are happy to provide you with paper maps and links to navigate the trail system as well as suggestions for trail routes based on skill and stamina!
Winter Nordic Ski Suggestions
Beginners and less experienced cross-country skiers would enjoy this 1-1.5-hour loop which you can shorten if needed. Begin by driving to the Lower Echo Ridge parking lot Trail Head.
From here take Lolly Pop Loop which is 0.7 mile, and you can go in either direction. There are two other very scenic loops that begin and end from Lolly Pop. If you go left (clockwise) on Lolly Pop, then first you will come to Whoop-di-do which is 1 mile and has excellent views of Lake Chelan and the valley. Then continuing on Lolly Pop you will arrive at Tootsie Roll which is 0.6 mile also with exceptional territorial views. You will come back to where you started and continue on Lolly Pop back to the lower parking lot where you started.
This is a fun way to enjoy the snow on very well maintained and groomed trails with magnificent scenery. The Echo Ridge Nordic Trail system is world class. After the experience it is time for hot chocolate, beer, wine, or cider and some time in the hot tub!
